In the last 4 months I've lost 81.2 pounds. I've taken drastic measures and dedicated myself to this transformation following my battle with a bowling ball sized tumor. Although I still have a ways to go before I reach my goal weight, my body has already undergone some miraculous changes. But don't let it take something like a monstrous tumor to make you want to get healthy. Add years to your life now by eating right and staying in motion. Eat Your Biggest Meal in the Morning
This is something that I've only recently started doing and it has had a profound impact on my metabolism. If you're the type of person who doesn't really like breakfast food, then don't eat breakfast food! Eat what you'd normally eat for supper, but in the morning. That said, you can still eat breakfast food if that's something you enjoy -- just make sure that it's the largest meal of your day; so fill up! By doing so, you will burn it all off throughout your day. The rest of your meals should be more like snacks if you want to lose a lot of weight quickly. If you decide to go that route, just make sure you have plenty of little snacks throughout your day.
Load Up On Vegetables
This should apply to any diet! Eat as many vegetables as you want and don't worry about the calories. Your body gets most of its nutrients from vegetables. Green veggies, beans, nuts, and seeds all provide a sufficient amount of protein for your daily needs.
Sweat it Out, Daily
Not exercising is not healthy. Yes, you can still lose weight by eating right, but, unless you want to have atrophied muscles, you still need to move that body! You'll lose weight much faster and you'll improve your overall health. Your bones, muscles, and immune system will thank you; as well as your mental and emotional state. This means you're going to have to do some cardio! I've lost most of my weight by doing a lot of low impact cardio. What is cardio? Anything that makes you sweat and gets your heart pumping!
Aim to Lose 2+ Pounds per Week
If you're trying to lose a lot of weight in a short amount of time, you need to talk with a doctor first. Once you get the go ahead, set your weekly weight loss goal for around 2+ pounds. When I first started my lifestyle change, I was losing 6-10 pounds per week. I now lose around 3-5 pounds per week. Everyone is different, so don't feel discouraged if you're only losing 2 to 3 pounds a week. That's still a lot of weight to lose on a weekly basis. If you're really struggling to reach your goals, make adjustments and pay attention to how your body reacts to those changes.
Enjoy Some Wiggle Room
It's important to push yourself, but it's also equally as important to take care of yourself. If you get too strict, you'll stress yourself out. If you stress yourself out too much you won't lose as much weight and you may get off track. If you have a cheat day, don't beat yourself up about it. Enjoy it while keeping in mind that it's just for one day (or meal). Persistence is key!
